The country’s leading insurance firm, NICO General Insurance Company Limited, has promised that its customers will in the next four months start accessing the company’s services through mobile phones.

NICO General’s Chief Executive Officer Eric Chapola and Assistant General Manager Donbell Mandala disclosed this to a cross section of their clients who participated in a golf tournament the company organised in Dwangwa Nkhotakota district over the weekend.

They described the prospective mobile phone platform as “the next big innovation” the company is bringing into the market.

“NICO General will remain innovative and a market leader,” said Mandala.

He said once the mobile phone service is introduced, insurance consumers will be able to access the company’s services 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

“We want to reduce the time customers spend coming to our offices for services,” said Mandala.

With this product, Mandala said customers will through an SMS be able to log into the company’s system and get details about their products and policies on offer.

Among other things, customers will also be able to access renewal information, premium statements and as well as claims status of one’s policy.

Through the same function, you’ll be able to check your balances and where you can access some of our service providers,” said Mandala

He said the platform will, among other things, have information about emergency mechanical services one might need when stranded in the middle of nowhere with a faulty vehicle.

On his part, Chapola said the mobile phone service will make interaction between NICO and its customers easier.

“You don’t have to come to our offices any more. From your tablets, laptops and cell phones you should be able to interact with us. You should also at a later stage even be able to pay your premiums through this system,” said Chapola.

“No other company by the way is even thinking to take that route.”

NICO General already operates an online service aided by an advanced insurance software solutions which is a suite that is designed to proficiently perform all the functions of an insurance company.

Through the company’s interactive website, clients can fill in and submit proposal and claim forms and any other query online.
