NICO General Insurance Company Limited, a subsidiary of listed, financial services groupNICO Holdings Limited, yesterday gave MK1.5 milliOn to the Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) to help the grouping hold this year’s annual conference.
This year’s conference at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi from August 20 to 22 under the theme Protecting and Growing the Future of Malawi will attract both local and international speakers.
NICO General Insurance assistant general manager for operations Donbell Mandala said the conference will help participants learn new ways of doing things in the industry.
“Every day there are new things that are happening in the insurance industry. As a company, we are sending 10 people to participate in the annual conference. We believe that the gathering is important to the industry and the employees,” he said.
IIM president Rex Kadzongwe said the conference will discuss and share in much more detail emerging issues in the industry.
He said this year’s theme is relevant to the industry and the economy as a whole.
“Security and protection are pertinent. We want to help in growing the future of Malawi. We know that Malawi is a growing economy,” he said.
Some of the topics to be discussed at the conference include financial independence atretirement, what life awaits those without pension, crime and insecurity in Malawi: Challenges and opportunities for insurers and agricultural insurance: The insurance industry’s next game changer?
