NICO General Insurance Company Ltd held a special broker awards ceremony on 24 November 2016 to honor its top performing brokers in Malawi. The ceremony, which was held at Protea Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre, is also part of NICO’s annual broker engagement forums.
Only brokers who have made a significant contribution to NICO General over the past 12 months, and those who have maintained a profitable portfolio over a three year period were considered for the awards. The candidates were then judged and scored according to set criteria.
In his remarks, Chief Executive Officer for NICO General, Eric Chapola said the company has grown by 24 percent, thanks to quality business of over 70 percent which comes from its brokers.
“As a broker driven business, we believe that it’s important to recognize the role played by brokers. We aim at offering best services so that our clients continue to have trust in us. Our belief is that through team work, we should be able to make 2017 a very successful year,” Chapola said.
Six insurance brokers were decorated with various accolades during the event.
Kingfisher Insurance Brokers and Consultants Ltd emerged as most innovative, while Hubertus Clausius was awarded the major contributor of new business. Nico General also awarded Rhino Insurance Brokers for most utilization of NICO General’s fast track claims service while Equatorial Insurance Agency was recognized as largest agent contributor.
AON emerged the largest broker contributor while their major competitor Marsh Malawi scooped three awards to become the overall winner. Marsh received awards in the following categories: most consistent growth from 2012 to 2015, largest growth in the year 2016 and lowest loss ratio at gross.
Marsh Malawi Chief Operating Officer, Mc Donald Chafwala, attributed the development to being fast and innovative in dealing with clients.
“Like Nico General Insurance, we believe in quality service. We believe that quality service is paramount to the success of the company,” said Chafwala.
